The
agreement stated that EA has the rights to develop and publish all of the
platform games. Basically they will make video games for all of the consoles
(Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo) and PC. But Disney retains the rights for
mobile, tablets, social and online games.
EA
has decided that a total of 3 of there development groups will work on the Star
Wars games. Dice which is the developers of Battlefield, Visceral which are the
developers of Dead Space and Bioware which are the ones that have already been
working on the Star Wars franchise. What they have stated is that Dice and
Visceral will be the ones to develop all the new games and Bioware will
continue working on Star Wars: The Old Republic.
This
has had its ups and downs with the fans, due to the fact that fans have been
expecting games like Star Wars 1313 for some time now. But Disney canceled that
when they shut down the development group at LucasArts. On the other hand
Disney hopes to redevelop the games the fans have been waiting for, with the
help of EA's developers.
"When
we looked at the talent of the teams that EA was committing to our games and
the quality of their vision for Star Wars, the choice was clear." This is
what the people over at LucasArt had to say over the decision that Disney made.
